A company called Smart Storage has announced its new Optimus Eco series of enterprise-grade solid state drives. Being the market’s first SAS 6Gb/s SSD to use 19nm MLC flash, the new drive is designed to deliver the endurance and performance needed for the mixed workloads common in enterprise applications.
The 2.5-inch Optimus Eco line is available in 200GB, 400GB, 800GB, 1.6TB and 2TB capacities. It features up to 500MB/s sustained read and 500MB/s sustained write speeds and 100K/45K IOPS random read/write performance. With support for wide-port SAS capability, the read performance can reach 1GB/s in applications that support the feature. Built for enterprise, the line also features F.R.A.M.E. (Flexible Redundant Array of Memory Elements), EverGuard Backup Power Circuitry and DataGuard for enhanced reliability. There are also thermal monitoring and AES 256-bit encryption.
Coming in June 2013, the 2TB Optimus Eco model starts at $3999.
