Pioneer introduces a new BPD-150 3D Blu-ray player, which according to the company is tailored to smartphone users and “deliver highest quality reproduction of their smartphone content”. The player, follow-up to the BDP-140, supports 3D Blu-ray playback and is network-enabled. It has Ethernet port for wired connection and can connect to wireless network using the optional Pioneer AS-WL300 WiFi adapter. With network connectivity, users can access YouTube video and Picasa photo albums, even stream media content from Mac/Windows computer or media server in the same network.
Other than 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, SACDs, CDs, the players also supports playback of smartphone specific 3gp file format, Flash video, DivX, DivX Plus HD and MKV videos from a disc, USB storage device and the network. WMA, MP3, AAC and lossless FLAC audio formats are also supported. The 3D Blu-ray player is also DLNA certified, which means it can stream audio, video and photo content wirelessly from DLNA-compatible devices, such as smartphones, tablets, Macs, Windows PCs and media servers.
The BPD-150 is the ideal companion Blu-ray player to the company’s latest AV receivers and it features Sound Retriever Link and Stream Smoother Link for enhanced audio and video reproduction. It is compatible with Pionner’s ControlApp and iControlAV2012 applications. It will be released in June 2012.
