Other than the BDP-140, Pioneer has two new Elite-brand 3D Blu-ray players, the BDP-52FD and BDP-53FD with support for 3D Blu-ray and network capability. The new Elite players are fully 3D compatible supporting 3D Blu-ray player and comes with HDMI 1.4a with support for x.v. Color, Deep Color and 3D. They delivers 1920x1080p Full HD resolution at 24fps, and support high-quality audio formats including DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Super Audio CD. BD-Live is also supported
The BDP-52FD and BDP-53FD features Precision Quartz Lock System (PQLS) Bit-Stream Multi-Channel for minimum jitter playback when used with a compatible Pioneer PQLS AV receiver via HDMI. They support playback DivX and DivX Plus HD (H.264/MKV) videos up to 1080p HD, in addition to 3D Blu-ray Disc, DVD, CD, SACD. Their online streaming functionality allows you to enjoy online content from Netflix, YouTube and Pandora.
To deliver superior quality, Pioneer’s new Elite models feature the new Sound Retriever Link and Stream Smoother Link. The former enhances compressed audio files by filling in data lost during the compression process, while Stream Smoother enhances compressed video files to reduce compression noise and establish more detailed, finer images. The BDP-52FD includes an RS-232 port for custom installation access and control, while the BDP-53FD is also equipped with Marvell QDEO Video Processor with two HDMI outputs for enhanced output and has an armored chassis.
The Pioneer Elite BDP-52FD and BDP-53FD both can be controlled via the free iControlAV2 app. The BDP-52FD is priced at $399 and the BDP-53FD cots $499.
