Intel has recently adds it SSD lineup the new S3500 series of solid state drive for data centers and cloud computing. The chipmaker said that the new series is design for read-intensive applications such as data center virtualization, web-hosting and clouding computing. The new series is available in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch form factors and use SATA 6Gbps interface.
Intel’s S3500 SSDs utilize 20nm Intel NAND MLC flash memory and deliver up to 500MB/s read and 450MB/s write speeds, and up to 75,000 IOPS random read performance. Capacities range from 80GB to 800GB and the price starts at $115 for 1.8-inch 80GB. Major hosting providers such as Amazon SES, Hostgator, etc will be buying sets of these new SSDs to upgrade their most powerful server options.
