In addition to the newly announced high-end compact LF1 and the Micro43 G6, Panasonic also launches in the US its new slim, stylish digital camera, the LUMIX DMC-XS1 that will be available in 10 exclusive designs. The XS1 sports the world’s slimmest body and comes in 10 special design patterns that are based on six concepts – Pop Art, Gift Wrapping, Floral Nature, Digital, Texture, and Japanese Traditional. Black, red and white versions are also available.
The16 Megapixel XS1 packs a 5x optical zoom 24mm wide angle LUMIX DC VARIO lens in its sleek, slim body. Its Intelligent Zoom function is able to extend the zoom range from 5x to 8x with minimum deterioration of image quality. The shooter has Sonic Speed AF and super fast start-up time so users won’t miss a moment. Panasonic’s signature Intelligent Auto (iA) mode is included for users to take great shots easily using the MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure and Face Detection features.
The sleek LUMIX is capable of 720p HD video recording. It comes with Creative Control and Creative Retouch with 13 in-camera effects to provide a fun shooting experience. Creative Panorama allows users to shoot a 360-degree horizontal/vertical panoramic image easily. The camera gets a 2.7-inch display and uses microSD/SDHC for storage.
The black, white and red models are priced at $129.99 but Panasonic did not mention the pricing of special versions.
