Panasonic introduced a new mid-range LUMIX Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera, the LUMIX DMC-G6 IS built to capture photo and video in even higher quality. It sports a 16.05 Megapixel Live MOS image sensor and a new Venus Engine to achieve enhanced image quality. The camera also adds WiFi and NFC for easy image transfer.
The LUMIX G6 uses Contrast AF for its focus system and features Light Speed AF to capture fast-moving subject clearly, and Low Light AF, combined with 160 – 25600 ISO sensitivity to improve performance in low-light environments. There is also AF Tracking lock onto any subject for consecutive shooting to capture moving subject. Thanks to the Venus Engine, the camera is capable of 7fps high-speed burst shooting in 16.05 Megapixel full resolution, and offers a super fast 0.5 second startup time.
Panasonic’s new mirrorless camera also does high quality video recording. 1920×1080/60p Full HD video are recorded in AVCHD Progressive and MP4 format with stereo sound. You may also use the 24p video mode to capture cinema-like video with 24 Mbps max bit rate. Full-time AF and tracking AF as well as P/A/S/M modes are also available in video recording. Dolby Digital is included for high-quality sound recording, and Wind Cut function is available to block out most of the noise from background wind.
Like the GF6, WiFi and NFC connectivity are included to make wireless image transfer and sharing possible. With NFC, you can pair the camera with NFC-enabled smartphone and tablet with a simple touch. Image and video can then be transferred to iOS/Android smartphone/tablet running Panasonic Image App, or to a PC wirelessly via WiFi. The WiFi-Direct feature enables direct image playback on DLNA-enabled Viera HDTVs. GPS is also included for tagging images and videos with location data.
You can also find Time Lapse Shot, Stop Motion Animation, Creative Control mode with 19 filters, Creative Panorama, iA+ (Intelligent Auto Plus Mode), Clear Retouch function. The G6 features a 3-inch free-angle in-cell touchscreen display with support for Full-area Touch AF, and a large OLED Live View Finder with about 100% field of view.
