The 2.5-inch drive comes in 7mm height and comes with a 9.5mm bracket for use in desktop computers. The SSD uses SATA III 6Gbps interface amd is compatible with both PC and Mac.
Crucial’s new SSD is based on Micron’s 20nm MLC NAND flash and custom firmware to provide up to 80,000 input/output and up to 500MB/s read and 400MB/s write speeds. For data protection and reliability, the M500 comes with hardware-based encryption that meets TCG Opal 2.0 and IEEE 1667 standards. Thermal management technology is also included to keep the drive cool. The SSD also has device sleep (DEVSLP) features for increased system battery life.
