To keep the PowerShot ELPH line fresh, Canon adds another two new models, the ELPH 330 HS (as IXUS 225 HS in Europe) and ELPH 115 IS (known as IXUS 132 in Europe). Joining the ELPH 130 IS, announced at the CES 2013, that sits between them, the new 330 HS and 115 IS have the same compact point-and-shoot design. Both of them, like other 2013 PowerShot models, offer the new Eco Mode for reduced power consumption and longer battery life.
The higher-end PowerShot ELPH 330 HS is equipped with a 12.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 image processing engine, and a 10x optical zoom lens with 24mm wide angle; and features Canon’s HS System with enhanced low-light performance. The compact shooter includes High-speed AF for improved focus speeds and is capable of High-speed Burst contiguous shooting at 6.2fps. It also has Intelligent IS for optimized image stabilization, and the new Hybrid Auto that combines Smart AUTO and Intelligent IS to bring better image quality to Movie Digest feature. 1080p Full HD videos captured by the camera can be shown on a big screen HDTV using its HDMI output. The camera also supports WiFi connectivity for wireless transfer and sharing of photos and videos to iOS/Android phones/tablets, social networking sites and PCs.
The PowerShot ELPH 115 IS has similar features as the ELPH 130 IS, but comes without WiFi and gets a smaller display at 2.7-inch. It packs the same 8x optical zoom 28mm wide angle lns, 16 Megapixel imager and DIGIC 4 image processor, as well as Intelligent IS for optimized image stabilization. You can use the camera to shoot 720p HD video.
Both cameras have Smart AUTO mode that will detect the shooting condition and select the best setting to capture great photos. The 330 HS can detect 58 scenes and the 115 IS has 32 predefined scene settings. The ELPH 330 HS will be available for $229.99 in black, silver and pink, and the ELPH 115 IS for $169.99 in blue, silver, black and pink colors. They will be released in March.
