Intel launches its new Solid-State Drive 525 Series of mSATA drive to bring high-speed storage performance to Ultrabook, notebook and other compact computing systems. It is Intel’s first 6Gbps mSATA product and is built to deliver high performance in a small form factor.
Using mSATA form factor, SSD 525 Series measures just 3.7mm x 50.8mm x 29.85mm, which is one-eighth the size of a 2.5-inch SSD. It is also super lightweight at 10 grams. Yet, Intel says that the drive is able to deliver the performance of the CPU maker’s SSD 520 Series client drive, thanks to 25nm MLC NAND flash and 6Gbps mSATA/PCI Express (PCIe) mini-connector. It offers up to 550MB/s read and 520MB/s write speeds, and up to 50,000 IOPS read and 80,000 write IOPS performance.
The mSATA SSD comes in 30GB, 60GB, 90GB, 120GB, 180GB and 240GB capacities. It includes AES 128-bit encryption capabilities for added data protection.
