Toshiba expands its enterprise SSD line with the new PX-series, including the PX02SM for high-performance enterprise application servers, the PX02AM value line for entry-to-mid level server and storage application, and the PX03AN for entry-level server. Toshiba has optimized each of them for its target segment with NAND flash processes, capacity and interface support.
The PX02SM, intended to deliver highest levels of enterprise SSD performance, uses 24nm eMLC (enterprise multi-level cell) NAND technology. It features dual-port 12Gbps SAS interface and offers up to 900MB/s read and 400MB/s read speeds. The PX02SM is available in 200GB, 400GB, 800GB and 1.6TB capacities and comes in standard 2.5-inch form factor, except the 1.6TB model will have 15mm height form factor.
The PX02AM is also based on 24nm eMLC NAND flash and comes in 100GB, 200GB and 400GB capacities; while the PX03AN, targeted at entry-level server and read-intensive/boot server applications, utilizes 19nm cMLC (consumer multi-level cell) NAND flash and is available in 55GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB densities. Both lines provide up to 500MB/s read and 240MB/s write performance. The PX02AM and PX03AN feature 7mm 2.5-inch form factor and use SATA III 6Gbps interface.
Toshiba will ship these enterprise SSDs in Q4 2012.
