LaCie adds to its Rugged line the new Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt series portable hard drives that include both Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interfaces to deliver the fastest tansfer speeds. The portable drive is MIL-compliant for superior data protection from accidental drops up to 1.2 meters (4 feet). It is designed by Neil Poulton.
The new Rugged USB 3.0 Thunderbolt is available in 1TB hard disk version and 120GB and 256GB SSD models. The SSD versions will offer fast speeds up to 380MB/s while the HDD model provides up to 110MB/s transfer rate. The dual-interface Rugged drives come pre-loaded with LaCie Private-Public software to protect your data with AES 256-bit encryption, and LaCie Backup Assistant for automatic backup.
With USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt, the Rugged works with both PC and Mac, and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. The 1TB HDD model is priced at $249.99, and the 120GB and 256GB SSD models are priced at $199.99 and $349.99, respectively.
