Sony introduces its new Action Cam series of wearable point-of-view video cameras, including the HDR-AS10 and the WiFi-capable HDR-AS15. Built to handle extreme environments so you can concentrate on safety and composition while capturing full HD videos, both cameras come with a ruggedized waterproof case featuring a universal tripod mount. According to Sony, the case allows the camera to waterproof down to 197 feet and has a shock resistance rating for up to five foot drops, and has dirt and dust resistant seals.
Sony‘s two Action Cams are equipped with 16 Megapixel Exmor R COMS image sensor and a ultra-wide angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens tp capture all the action in a 170-degree wide field view. They are capable of Full HD 1920×1080/30p video recording, and provide HD SLOW 2x (1280 x 720, 60p) and HD SLOW 4x (1280 x 720, 120p) recording modes for extreme sports athletes and enthusiasts. To deliver shake-free, smooth videos, both models include Sony’s SteadyShot image stabilization and 3-Way Shake-Canceling technology. As mentioned above, the HDR-AS15 model features WiFi connectivity, which allows users to share and send videos and photos from the Action Cam to their tablets or smartphones running Son’s PlayMemories app.
The Action Cam HDR-AS10 and HDR-AS15 action camcorders both have a built-in stereo microphone and HDMI output for you to share videos with friends and family on a HDTV. They support Memory Stick Micro and Micro SD/SDHC cards. Adhesive mounts are included for securing Action Cam easily to flat and curved surfaces, and Sony will offer a range of mouting attachements including a Waterproof Head Mount Kit, Headband Mount, Handlebar Mount and a Suction Cup. Sony’s HDR-AS10 and HDR-AS15 will be available in September for $199.99 and $269.99, respectively.
Following the camera’s launch, Sony release other accessories, including a Tilt Adaptor to adjust the device’s angle up or down on mounts for more viewpoint options, a Handheld Grip with a 2.7-inch LCD screen, Anti-fog sheets, and a replacement Door pack.
