Archos announced its new Gen10 XS tablet series and the first device of the line, the Archos 101 XS super slim Android tablet. The 10.1-inch 101 XS will debut in mid-September and lands the US market in November. Archos will also release the other two models in the Gen10 XS line, the 97 XS and 80 XS, later this year.

Each of the Gen10 XS tablet, including the 101 XS, comes with Archos’ innovative Coverboard, a unique multifunctional magnetic keyboard. The super slim magnetic Coverboard is not just a chiclet keyboard for easy typing. It also serves as a cover to protect the 101 XS, and features magnetically guided docking system with integrated magnetic kickstand to hold and dock the tablet. The Coverboard can also be plugged into power outlet for charging docked 101 XS tablet.

The Archos 101 XS is boosted by a 1.5GHz OMAP 4470 dual-core 1.5GHz processor with PowerVR SGX544 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It sports a 10.1-inch 1280×800 touchscreen display and supports Blutooth 4.0 and WiFi connectivity as well as GPS. The tablet has no rear camera but just a 720p front-facing camera with 720p video recording. The 101 XS comes with 16GB internal flash memory and supports microSD/SDHC up to 128GB. It also provides mini HDMI output.

Archos 101 XS runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will be updated to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It will be released in the UK on November for $399.99. Archos will also release the Speaker Dock with 32-watt speaker and Docking Station with USB port and RCA audio ports.
