Pioneer announced three new wireless music systems, the XW-SMA1, XW-SMA3 and XW-SMA4. All of them support Apple’s AirPlay, DLNA 1.5 and Pioneer’s own Wireless Direct wireless technologies that make wireless music streaming easy. The Wireless Direct technology allows for a direct wireless connection between your smartphone and the A1 speaker, without the need for a wireless router.
With AirPlay, these speakers can wirelessly stream music from iPhone/iPad/iPod touch and computers running iTunes; and support for HTC Connect enables them to stream audio from HTC One series smartphones. DLNA allows users to push music content from DLNA-compatible devices, including mobile devices and PC/Mac computers. Pionner’s SMA series speakers also feature Pioneer’s Wireless Direct technology, which allows the speaker to act as its own Wi-Fi wireless access point.
The XW-SMA1 and XW-SMA3 both sport dual 10w+10w amplifiers, dual 3-inch speakers and a 20mm soft dome tweeter, and uses a tuned bass reflex port to enhance bass response. The latter adds a rechargeable Lithium Ion battery that provides up to 6 hours of playback, and a tough exterior for added convenience and portability. The XW-SMA4 packs five speakers, including dual 3-inch midrange speakers, a dedicated 4-inch subwoofer and dual 3/4-inch soft dome tweeters; and triple 10w + 10w + 20w amplifiers.
Pioneer’s XW-SMA1, XW-SMA3 and XW-SMA4 will be available in August for $299, $399 and $399, respectively.
