Corsair unveiled at the Computex 2012 the Neutron Series and Neutron Series GTX solid state drives with Link_A_Media Devices (LAMD)’s LM87800 6Gbps SSD controller. The former is intended for consumer market and the GTX model are designed to deliver professional-grade performance and reliability to PC enthusiasts, content creators, and IT professionals.
The standard Neutron Series comes in 120GB and 240GB capacities. It offers sequential speeds of up to 555 MB/s read and 370 MB/s write, and up to 90,000 random read IOPs and 85,000 random write IOPs. On the other hand, the Neutron Series GTX is available in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB and provides 555 MB/s read and 500 MB/s write speeds with up to a 90,000 random read and write IOPS. They both include LAMD’s powerful on-the-fly error correction and advanced NAND management technologies to improve the endurance of onboard flash memory; and the GTX models adds adaptive DSP technology to maintains superior performance throughout the lifetime of the SSD.
With 2.5-inch form factor with 7mm height, the thin design of Corsair’s Neutron and Neutron GTX fits most standard and slim notebooks. They use SATA 6Gbps interface and come with 3.5-inch adapter for use on desktop computer.
