FujiFilm introduces its new FinePix XP170, a rugged digital camera which is the successor to the XP150. The new camera is not just waterproof (to 10 meters), but is also shockproof to 2 meter drop, freezeproof to -10°C and dustproof. It has a shockproof bumper design and comes with anti-slip rubber grip. Its battery compartment is sealed with a double lock for waterproofing. The 14 Megapixel camera sports a 5x optical zoom with 28mm wide angle.
Thanks to its support for Wireless Image Transfer, the XP170 can connect with iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone/tablet for image transfer, using the FUJIFILM Photo Receiver free app. The rugged camera features SO 3200 sensitivity, face detection, tracking auto focus and CMOS Shift Image Stabilization, Pro Low-Light mode, Dynamic Range HDR mode for enhance picture quality. It also offers 6 Scene SR AUTO mode that automatically detected the scene and selected appropriate camera setting for shooting. There are also 360-degree Motion Panorama mode, and support for 10fps continuous shooting.
The FinePix XP170 can record 1080p Full HD video, even underwater, at 30fps, and provides mini HDMI output so you can show images and videos on a HDTV. It has a 2.7-inch LCD display withanti-reflection coating as well. Coming in June, FujiFilm’s new rugged camera will be available in blue and orange for $279.95.
