Elgato launches the Thunderbolt SSD, a portable high-speed storage drive. Featuring an elegant, solid all-metal enclosure, the portable SSD is probably the fastest single-drive storage solution for your Mac. Thanks to Thunderbolt interface, Elgato’s SSD offers up to 270MB/s transfer rate, which is 3 times and 7 times faster than using FireWire 800 and USB 2.0, respectively.
As the Thunderbolt SSD uses solid state drive instead of hard drive, it works without the need for a noisy fan and is less prone to accidental damages as there is no moving mechanical parts. The portable high-speed drive works with Mac or Windows PC with Thunderbolt port. By the way, the drive doesn’t come with a Thunderbolt cable, meaning you have to get one yourself.
The Elgato Thunderbolt SSD is available in 120GB and 240GB capacities that are priced at Euro 399.95 and Euro 649.95 respectively.
