Sony is launching the new Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V, a compact, slim, stylish and rugged digital camera. The new shooter is waterproof to 5 meters (16 feet), freezeproof to 14°F and dustproof. It features a new reinforced glass design on the front and a sleek, compact design that fits the slimmest pocket or purse. The TX200V, follow-up to the TX100V, sports a 18.2 Megapixel Exmor R COMS image sensor, and a new BIONZ processor that combined to deliver low-noise images; and a 5x optical zoom lens with Clear Image Zoom technology that boosts the zoom range to 10x.
Thanks to the CMOS sensor and BIONZ processor, the camera also offers super fast AutoFocus speeds of approximately 0.13 seconds in daytime and 0.25 seconds in low-light situations. It is able to capture full 18.2 Megapixel resolution images at up to 10fps. With Optical SteadyShot with Active Mode, which has been improved with the addition of electronic image stabilization, the camera delivers blur-free images and movies even when walking. Its Background Defocus function takes two shots and identifies the background, then applies a defocused background keeping the subject crisp and clear. The waterproof Cyber-shot supports Full HD 1080/60p video recording with Dual-Record, allowing you to shoot 13 Megapixel stills and movies at the same time.
Sony’s TX200V also includes Superior Auto mode, Intelligent Scene Recognition mode, 3D shooting modes, Face Detection technology, Smile Shutter, Motion Detection, Anti-blink, and Soft Skin mode. The Photo Creativity function allows users to fine-tune your exposure settings, such as brightness, color, and vividness, and quickly choose the right enhancement for your subject; and the Picture Effect lets you add a new level of expression to photos. The TX200V comes with a 3.3-inch OLED touchscreen and a microHDMI output. It is also equipped with GPS and compass for recording location data and camera direction as you shoot movies and photos. GPS Log lets users track a photographic journey and later view the path and images on a map.
The waterproof Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V will come in red, silver and violet. It is priced at $499.99.
