Plextor announced at the CES 2012 the new M3 Pro solid state drive that offers improvements to the current M3S, including a significant boost in sequential and random read/write speeds. The new M3 Pro comes in 7mm height form factor to fit ultra slim notebooks and is based on Toshiba’s 24nm Toggle Flash. It uses the SATA III 6Gbps interface.
Available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities, the M3 Pro offers sequential read speed up to 540MB/s and write speeds up to 450 MB/s, and random read/write speeds of up to 75,000/69,000 IOPS. It utilizes Marvell’s server-grade controller and features exclusive firmware with True Speed technology, which includes Plextor’s proprietary Bad Block Management, Global Wear Leveling, and Instant Restore Technologies.
The Plextor M3 Pro will be available in February 2012. It will come with a disk cloning and backup utility for moving data from traditional hard drive to M3 Pro, and a 3.5-inch mounting bracket and screws for desktop installation.
