Seagate launches the GoFlex Satellite mobile wireless hard drive (model STBF500101), the first battery-powered external hard drive to wirelessly stream content to any WiFi-enabled mobile device. Seagate’s new drive has 500GB of storage capacity. It suppprts WiFi 802.11b/g/n allowing users to access stored movies, photos, music and documents wirelessly from iPad and other mobile devices via dedicated app or web browser. It is able to stream media over Wi-Fi to 3 iPads at the same time.
In addition to WiFi, the GoFlex Satellite also comes with a USB 3.0 USM adapter with detachable USB 3.0 cable for fast data transfer. The drive’s built-in rechargeable battery offers 5 hours of battery life and up to 25 hours standby time.
The Seagate GoFlex Satellite is available for $199.99 and will be released in July.
