Asus officially announced its Eee Reader DR900, the “world’s first 9-inch touchscreen e-book reader”. The DR900 uses 9-inch SiPix electrophoretic display and capacitive touchscreen with a virtual keyboard that can be used to annotate reading material, make handwritten notes and even draw sketches. It has 2GB internal storage that can hold up to 5,000 ebooks and supports SD memory card for expansion.
The 9-inch Eee Reader offers 2.25 times the reading area compared to 6-inch ebook reader. It supports WiFi and optional 3G connectivity and includes text-to-speech supports for 23 languages, giving instant conversion of ebooks into audio books. The e-book reader has a two-week battery life, which is long enough to read 20 novels back-to-back between recharges.
