Kingston launches in the UK its new SSDNow S100 series solid state drives designed for small capacity hard drive replacements and upgrades. The new 2.5-inch S100 is available in 8GB and 16GB capacities and use SATA I/II interface. The new SSDNow drives are based on commercial grade NAND Flash memory components.
The 8GB model (SS100S2/8G) provides 90MB/s read and 30MB/s write speeds while the 16GB (SS100S2/16G) has 230MB/s read and 75MB/s write. They support Windows 7 TRIM command and S.M.A.R.T. 8GB and 16GB models are priced at $45.72 and $62.95, respectively.
