OCZ Technology announced the new RevoDrive X2 PCI-Express SSD, a follow-up to the first RevoDrive. The new X2 offers increased performance and capacity to serve high-performance computing consumers. It upgrades the riginal architecture to deliver unprecedented speed up to 740MB/s and up to 120,000 IOPS, which, according to OCZ, is nearly triple the throughput of other high-end SATA-based solutions with a substantial reduction in the total cost of ownership (TCO) to the consumer.
Utilizing PCI-Express x4 interface, the RevoDrive line eliminate the SATA II 3Gbps bottleneck. The RevoDrive X2 uses an onboard RAID 0 design and is equipped with four SandForce-1200 controllers, compare to two in the original RevoDrive, for maximum data access and bandwidth. The new X2 is available in 100GB to 960GB capacities. The 100-160GB models offer 740MB/s read speed, 690MB/s write speed and up to 550MB/s sustained write speed while the 240GB-960GB models have 740MB/s read, 720MB/s write and 600MB/s sustained write speeds.
