Iomega, part of EMC, announced the new 1.8-inch Iomega External USB 3.0 SSD Flash Drives, which are rugged portable 1.8-inch SSDs for “high-end users, creative professionals and others who demand the best in performance, security and portability.”
Iomega’s 1.8-inch SSD flash drive uses USB 3.0 for high-speed data transfer and features write speeds up to twice as fast as 7200 RPM SATA hard drives and built-in 256-bit hardware encryption. It is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities. Other than built-in encryption, the drive also comes pre-loaded with Iomega Protection Suite, a one-stop portfolio of backup and anti-virus software.
The price is $229 for 64GB, $399 FOR 128GB and $749 for 256GB. Iomega’s USB 3.0 SSD flash drive measures 4.35″ x 2.72″ x .37″ (L x W x H) and weighs 0.24 lbs.
