Toshiba introduces the Portege R700, the world’s lightest 13.3-inch full-performance ultraportable laptop with an integrated DVD drive. Powered by Intel’s Core series processor, the Portege R700 is equipped with DDR3 memory, built-in DVD burner, an ExpressCard slot, two USB 3.0 ports, an eSATA/USB combo port and HDMI output.
The Portege R700 comes with a 13.3-inch LED-backlit display, a raised tile keyboard and a multitouch touchpad. It is just 1-inch thin and weighs just 3 pounds. It features the new Airflow Cooling Technology that uses directed streams of fresh air to cool the heat-generating components. The laptop has a light, yet durable magnesium alloy casing reinforced with a new honeycomb rib design.
Toshiba also offers the consumer-oriented Portege R705 that has a Magnesium Blue cover. All Portege R700/R705 models come with a 6-cell battery and supports WiFi connectivity. The R705 also sports Intel Wireless Display for wirelessly connecting the laptop to a big screen HDTV but lacks ExpressCard or docking capabilities.
