Panasonic adds to its Toughbook line the new Toughbook F9 (aka Let’s Note CF-F9) thin-and-light business-rugged notebook, follow up to the F8. Weighs just 3.6 pounds, the F9 is the the industry’s lightest 14-inch laptop. As a rugged device, the F9 survives drops of 30-inch to the base of the unit while operating and 26 drops (to every side, corner and face) from 12-inch to a non-yielding surface.
The laptop also gets a magnesium alloy case with handle, and spill-resistant keyboard. It lid and base are designed to withstand more than 220 lbs (100 Kg) of compression. The Toughbook F9 is powered by Intel Core i5-520M 2.4GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and integrated graphics. It packs a 320GB hard drive and a DVD SuperMulti burner. There is a 14.1-inch 1440×900 LED-backlit LCD display, a PC card slot, VGA outut and SD/SDHC slot. The business-rugged notebook supports Bluetooth, WiFi and optional WIMAX 4G or Gobi 2000 3G mobile broadband.
The Panasonic Toughbook F9 will be available on 1 July 2010 with a starting price of $2899.
