OCZ Technology announced the enterprise-class Vertex 2 Pro and Vertex 2 EX solid state drives. These 2.5-inch SATA SSDs both useSandForce SF-1500 SSD processor and offer up to 285MB/s read speed abd 275MB/s write speeds and and 4KB random writes up to 50,000 Input/Output per second (IOPS).
Only difference between the Pro and and EX series are the type of NAND flash used. The Pro version utilizes MLC NAND while the EX series is based on SLC memory, which has ten times the program/erase (P/E) cycles with the same enhanced performance as the Pro edition. The Vertex 2 Pro is available in 50GB, 100GB, 200GB, and 400GB capacities while the Vertex 2 EX comes in 50GB, 100GB and 200GB.
