JVC announceda the 010 NAB Show in Las Vegas its new flagship GY-HM790 ProHD digital camcorder that supports multicore or fiber-based production. The HM790 features three 1/3-inch CCD image sensors for producing 1920×1080 images and video recording in 1080i, 720p, and even SD (480i) resolutions. It records at 35 Mbps (HQ mode/variable bit rate) or 19 Mbps/25 Mbps (SP mode/constant bit rate).
The JVC GY-HM790 comes with a 4.3-inch LCD display and a 1.2 megapixel LCOS viewfinder. It has two XLR inputs and HD/SD-SDI port and dual SD/SDHC card slots. The camcorder supports JVC’s file recording technology that allows recording in ready-to-edit file formats for Apple Final Cut Pro (.mov) and other major NLE systems (.mp4) that are compatible with Sony XDCAM EX workflow.
JVC GY-HM790 is priced at $11,995, including a Canon 14x zoom lens or it can be shipped without a lens. JVC offers also the low light version GY-HM790LL that features the LoLux fo image capturing in an extremely low light environment.
