ioSafe adds to its Solo line the Solo SSD, which is the world’s first disaster-proof solid state hard drive. The rugged Solo SSD features ArmorPlate, a military grade steel outer casing for shock, drop and crush protection and even fire and water protection. The ArmorPlate helps to protect data in a two story building collapse, 5000 lb. crush forces, 20′ drop into rubble and up to a 1000g shock.
The ioSafe Solo SSD, other than USB 2.0, includes the high-speed eSATA interface. It also includes HydroSafe, FloSafe and DataCast to keep the drive cool. To be shipped in in February 2010, the Solo SSD is available in 64GB ($499), 128GB ($749) and 256GB ($1250).
