Alongside the M9, Leica presents the X1 compact digital camera. The design of the X1 is strongly reminiscent of the legendary Leica’s M-series rangefinders. The camera features a large 12.2 Megapixel APS-C format CMOS image sensor and an all-purpose LEICA ELMARIT 1:2.8/24 mm auto focus lens.
Leica X1 features F2.8-F16 aperture range, Face Detection, ISO 100-3200, analogue-style shutter speed and aperture dials and a 2.7-inch LCD display. The X1 supports SD/SDHC cards and has an HDMI connector. It will be available in the UK starting January 2010.
