Western Digital (WD), after acquiring SiliconSystems, introduces the SiliconDrive III series Solid State Drive (SSD). Three models are available, the 2.5-inch SATA drive with 30GB-120GB, the 1.8-inch Micro SATA Drive with 30GB-60GB and the 2.5-inch PATA drive with 30GB-120GB.
Both SATA models uses SATA 3 Gb/s interface and offers 100MB/s read and 80MB/s write speeds. The 2.5-inch PATA model uses ATA-7 interface and provides 85MB/s and 60MB/s read and write speeds.
Pricing and availability have not been announced.
