Other than the high-end professional EOS 5D Mark II, Canon updates the G series with the PowerShot G10 for the prosumer market. As the successor of the Powershot G9, the G10 features a 14.7 Megapixel image sensor, a 28 mm wide-angle lens with 5x optical zoom, and Canon’s newest DIGIC 4 image processor.
The new DIGIC 4 processor offers a significantly improved signal processing speed and higher image quality. It delivers the Advanced Face Detection Technology, Motion Detection Technology, Intelligent Contrast Correction, and Servo AF. The PowerShot G10 has also optical image stabilization.
G10 comes with a 3-inch PureColor LCD II display. Available in October, the Canon PowerShot G10 will be priced at $499.99.
