SanDisk has introduced its 4th generation retail SSD, the Extreme II series of high-performance solid state drives for technology enthusiasts and gamers. According to the company, the new SSD can significantly improve data-transfer, application launching, and boot-up and shut-down times for notebook computers and desktops. It utilizes 19nm flash memory and a proprietary tiered system architecture with nCache acceleration technology to deliver a fast performance.
The Extreme II uses SATA III 6Gbps interface and provides up to 550MB/s read and 510MB/sec write speeds and up to 95,000 random read IOPS and 78,000 random write IOPS peformance. It comes in 120GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities, which are priced at $129.99, $229.99 and $439.99, respectively.
