In addition to the flexible Aspire R7 and the 7.9-inch Iconia A1 tablet, Acer also brings the Aspire P3 Ultrabook at the New York press event. Though not as flexible as the R7, the P3’s unique design can easily transform from notebook into tablet. The high-portable Ultrabook is in fact a combination of a tablet and a Bluetooth keyboard leather case. With the case, the P3 can be used as a notebook with keyboard, or it can be folded flat into a tablet. You may also detach it from the keyboard case, making it a pure tablet.
Acer’s P3 gets a 11.6-inch IPS HD LCD touchscreen with 10-point multitouch and 170-degree viewing angle, and it has no touchpad or trackpoint, meaning you have to interact with Windows 8 using the touchscreen. The Ultrabook-tablet hybrid is powered by Intel’s Core i3 or i5 processor and comes with 60G or 120GB SSD for storage. The 5 Megapixel main camera can capture high-res photos and the Acer Crystal Eye HD webcam is able to capture 720p HD video. You can find Bluetooth, WiFi connectivity, as well as USB 3.0 and HDMI ports and Dolby Home Theater sound.
To provide comfortable typing experience, the included keyboard case has full-size chiclet keys. The Aspire P3 is available for $799.99.
