Linksys, now part of Belkin, launches two new Smart WiFi Routers, the AC1600 for video enthusiast (EA6400) and the AC1200 for advanced multimedia (EA6300). Both routers support the next generation WiFi 802.11ac high-speed wireless technology. Equipped with 802.11ac, the routers can deliver up to three times the speed of 802.11n. Both models support dual-band WiFi for enhanced performance.
Linksys said that the AC1600 is ideal for homes with five to seven wireless devices. It supports up to 1300Mbps on 5GHz band and up to 300Mbps on the 2.4GHz, offering a total of 1600Mbps wireless speed. The AC1200, on the other hand, fits small home with 3-5 devices with up to 867Mbps on 5GHz and 300Mbps on 2.4GHz speeds. To deliver better network range and faster speeds, the routers feature the beamforming technology that can “precisely adjust, steer and monitor the direction and shape of the WiFi signals for better performance,” and the SpeedBoost antenna technology to maintain high speed with maximum coverage. Both of them have four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports and a USB 3.0 port for sharing printer or storage devices.
These Smart WiFi Routers are easy to setup. Other than connecting with wireless devices via WPS (WiFi Protected Setup), the SimpleTap technology lets you connect NFC-enabled devices to home network with just a tap on the included SimpleTap card. You may also use Linksys’s SMART WiFi mobile app for easy connection. The routers also support DLNA for media streaming and work with a range of apps such as Gemini IP Camera Viewer, HipPlay media player, Netproofer.
The AC1600 and AC1200 are priced at $189.99 and $169.99, respectively.
