Canon expands its VIXIA line with a new flagship model, the HF G30 with a powerful lens, a new sensor and built-in dual-band WiFi connectivity. Joining the G20 announced back in January. the new Full HD camcorder includes advanced features to provide professional-level performance for video enthusiasts and advanced amateurs.
The new G30 sports a newly designed 2.91 Megapixel HD CMOS Pro image sensor and DIGIC DV4 image processor to deliver high-sensitivity and wide dynamic range for outstanding imaging performance. Its newly designed 20x wide angle F/1.8 HD video lens with 8-blade circular aperture to help deliver a more natural and smooth out-of-focus area, and manual focus ring for precise control. There is SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization (with Dynamic IS) with five-axis correction to compensate for a full range of motion. According to Canon, the lens was built using the same Hi-UD (Hi Index Ultra Low Dispersion) technology found in Canon’s XF professional camcorder line, helping to reduce chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range.
A first in the VIXIA G series, the G30 includes the new Dual Recording feature, supporting 1080/60p MP4 (35Mbps) and AVCHD Progressive (28 Mbps) recording. It also supports cinematic recording at Native 24p. You can also find some professional features such as manual color temperature adjustment (2,000K-15,000K in 100K increments), color bars with test tone, manual shutter speed and aperture control. Other than the 3.5-inch large OLED touch display, the camcorder also has a 0.24-inch angle-adjustable color viewfinder (CVF) with a large-sized eyecup.
With dual-band WiFi connectivity, you can view, save and download images and movies wirelessly using your smartphones and tablets. Also, the new WiFi Remote function allows you to control the camcorder remotely. There are two SD/SDXC crd slot and the Relay Recording will automatically continue to record on the second SD memory card once the first one becomes full. Users can add external microphone or lighting using the Mini Advanced Accessory Shoe or cold shoe.
Coming in June, Canon’s VIXIA HF G30 will be available for $1699.99.
