Olympus’ STYLUS TOUGH line gets two new members, the TG-830 iHS and TG-630 replacing the TG-820 and TG-625. These durable cameras are ideal for active photographers to capture worry-free images in the most challenging environments. Both models feature Olympus’ iHS technology for high-speed and high-sensitivity performance, and are equipped with TruePic VI image processor to deliver true-to-life color.
The TOUGH TG-830 iHS is a mid-range model with five-proof capability. It is waterproof down to 10 meter/33 feet, shockproof from 7 feet/2.1 meter drops, crushproof up to 220 pounds, freezeproof (down to 14°F/10°C) and dustproof. The camera packs a 16 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and a 5x optical zoom lens. It also sports built-in GPS chip and electronic compass to display location and landmark information and record location data to images and videos.
The TG-630 iHS, on the other hand, is a entry-level rugged camera with a budget-friendly price of under $200. The four-proof camera is waterproof to 16ft/5 meter, shockproof 5.5ft/1.5 meter, freezeproof 14°F/-10°C and dustproof.
Both TOUGH models feature dual image stabilization that combines sensor-shift image stabilization and high ISO sensitivity (100-6400), Full HD 1080p video recording, High Speed HD video at 120fps in 720p resolution, as well as Multi-motion Movie image stabilization. They come with a LED AF illuminator to help you capture your subject in low-light condition. You can also find the special Beauty Mode that can soften shadows and smooth wrinkles and blemishes on your subject’s face; and 11 Magic Art Filters for still and video.
