Canon adds to its Cinema EOS Prime Lens product line two new models, the CN-E14mm T3.1 L F and CN-E135mm T2.2 L F signel-focal-length lenses for large-format single-sensor cameras employing Super 35mm or full frame 35mm imagers. Both lenses are fully compatible with Canon’s four Cinema EOS System cinema cameras – EOS C500 4K/2K, EOS C300, EOS C100 and EOS-1D C 4K DSLR.
The new professional Cinema Prime lenses use EF-mount design and “integrate advanced materials and coatings to meet high optical performance levels, including 4K (4096 x 2160) production standards.” They are water-resistant for severe shooting conditions as well.
Both compact lenses are intended for working professional and have markings on angled surfaces on both sides of the barrel so users can read focus and aperture settings from behind or from either side of the camera. Their 11-blade aperture diaphragm allows for beautiful background blur and “bokeh” effects of cinematographic quality.
Canon will release the CN-E14mm T3.1 L F in April for $5500 and the CN-E135mm T2.2 L F in May for $5200.
