Though Kanex may be better known for its display cables and adapter, the company has released some accessories for Apple’s products. The firm has just introduced at the CES 2013 the meDrive, a device that can turn USB storage device into a network drive that can be access from an iPhone, iPad or Mac and PC.
With meDrive, you can create a private cloud server using any external USB storage devices. Simply connect the meDrive to your home network and plug in an USB storage, your files, documents and media are brought online and always accessible. iOS users can use the free Kanex meDrive to access and manage files on the meDrive. Users of iWorks (Keybnote, Pages and Numbers) can even save and access iWorks files to meDrive, thanks to its built-in WebDAV support. As it is connected to a network, users can also access the meDrive from a Mac or Windows PC.
The Kanex meDrive has a Ethernet LAN port for network connection, a mini USB power port and a USB port for USB storage. The device is priced at $99.
