Apricorn updates its Aegis Bio line with the new USB 3.0-equipped Aegis Bio 3.0 model with enhanced encryption feature. The biometrically secure USB 3.0 portable drive comes with real-time AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption, an upgrade to the 128-bit encryption found on the original Aegis Bio. It also has fingerprint reader to prevent unauthorized access.
While the 256-bit AES-XTS encryption seamlessly encrypts all data on the drive, protecting the drive even if it is removed from its casing, the fingerprint sensor uses an Advanced live layer imaging technology to provide the most accurate fingerprint image possible. Its Embedded Enrollment keeps all fingerprint enrollment and authentication within the Aegis Bio circuitry, independent of the host system, which means no software is required for the fingerprint system to work. The drive can store up to five fingerprint profiles, and with a swipe of your finger on the sensor, you can access to your files.
The Aegis Bio 3.0 uses USB 3.0 connection for faster data transfer speed and has an integrated USB 3.0 cable. It is backwards compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 ports and works on Windows PC, Mac and Linux computers. The compact drive has a rugged design that protects it from drops and knocks. The price is $219 for 500GB, $229 for 750GB and $259 for 1TB.
