Kingston ships its new DataTraveler Workspace (DTWS) USB flash drive that is certified for Windows To Go. A key feature of Windows 8 Enterprise, Windows To Go allows enterprise to boot and operate a Windows 8 corporate workspace from portable devices such as USB flash drive. Kingston said the drive is designed to help IT administrators support their mobile user base — from remote employees to contractors and consultants; and helps companies and organizations meet both ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) initiatives and disaster recovery requirements.
The DataTraveler Workspace uses USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface and SandForce SSD controller technology to achieve high-speed performance of 250MB/s read and 250MB/s write speeds. The fixed drive is not designed for data storage, and it is security enhanced featuring BitLocker for data encryption and Trusted Boot for protecting boot process and anti-malware software. The drive is resilient to accidental removal so the workspace can resume if the drive is plugged back in within 60 seconds.
The DataTraveler Workspace comes in 32GB ,64GB and 128GB capacities. It supports TRIMD and S.M.A.R.T commands and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.
