Netgear launches its Centria line of high-speed routers with automatic backup for PC and Mac. Two models has been released, the WNDR4700 is storage-ready with an internal drive bay for you to add your own hard drive, and the WNDR4720 equipped with an internal 2TB hard drive. Basically, the Centrias are router+NAS combos packing high-performance dual-band WiFi routers and internal hard drive for data backup and storage. The drives can also be used to store and share files over the home network, and you can upgrade the drive easily by yourself.
The WNDR4700 and WNDR4720 both support simultaneous dual band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) technology to deliver a combined 900Mbps WiFi speeds, extended WiFi range and coverage and smooth HD streaming and online gaming. With internal drive, they work with NETGEAR ReadySHARE Vault for Windows PC and Time Machine for Mac for automatic wireless data backup. They have two USB 3.0 SuperSpeed ports for adding external drive for more storage space and sharing printers. There is also a SD card reader and the router supports one-click backup of media to the internal hard drive.
The Centria devices also serve as media server that store your movies, songs, photo as well as documents, which can be access from any connected devices. The server can stream media to your DLNA-compatible HDTVs or game consoles, and you can use use Android or iOS mobile devices as a remote control. Using the ReadySHARE Cloud, users can create a secure private cloud so you can access files stored on Centria remotely via any Internet-enabled device.
