Lenovo expands its IdeaPad line with the new S300, S400 and S405 featuring a sleek exterior design with a stylish metallic finish. According to Lenovo, the new S-series thin and light notebooks strike a balance between portability and performance for consumers who want more computing power than a netbook and longer battery life than a traditional laptop, without the premium price of an Ultrabook.
The S300 and S400 are powered by Intel’s Ivy Bridge 3rd gen Core i3 or i5 processor, while the S405 sports AMD A8 quad-core CPU. They are equipped with up to 500GB hard drive (1TB in S405) and the S400 and S405 can get the optional 32GB SSD for faster boot time and application responsiveness. All of them have a 14-inch display and provide HDMI output. You can also find built-in stereo speakers with Dolby Advanced Audio v2 sound enhancement, updated intelligent touchpad and AccuType keyboard with individual rounded keys.
Lenovo’s IdeaPad S-series notebooks are shipped with Windows 7 Home Professional and are eligible for Windows 8 upgrade program. The S300, S400 and S405 start at $499 and come in crimson red, silver grey and cotton-candy pink colors.
