Canon PowerShot SX500 IS

Canon brings two new long-zoom digital cameras, the PowerShot SX500 IS and PowerShot SX160 IS with 30x and 16x optical zoom, respectively. Both models are equipped with a 16 Megapixel image sensor and powerful DIGIC 4 image processor. They feature Canon’s Intelligent IS system that automatically choose from six different modes to optimize image stabilization for clear, blur-free images.

The PowerShot SX500 IS sports a 30x Optical Zoom lens with 24mm wide angle, while the SX160 IS gets a 16x 28mm wide angle lens. Their lenses come with Optical Image Stabilizer to reduce camera shake. Thanks to the Smart AUTO mode, both PowerShots will intelligently selects the proper settings based on 32 predefined shooting situations to ensure the best possible image capture for stills or video. The SX500 IS also has the Zoom Framing Assist feature that makes zooming-in and framing subjects quick and effortless. With a simple press of the Zoom Framing Assist button, the lens will quickly zoom out to help you re-locate and frame your subject.

Canon’s SX500 IS and SX160 IS are capable of 720p HD video recording. Each of them has a large 3-inch LCD display. The SX160 IS uses AA batteries for power for added convenience. Coming in September, the SX500 IS and SX160 IS are priced at $329.99 and $229.99, respectively.
