Sony announced in the UK its latest addition to the NXCAM range, the affordable NEX-EA50EH interchangeable lens professional camcorder. It is equipped with a large format APS-C HD CMOS image sensor for Full HD 1920×1080 video recording in AVCHD 2.0 format with 60/50Hz selection. The camcorder is also capable of taking 16.1 Megapixel still images with RAW format support, and features a built-in mechanical shutter to realize high-speed shutter while capturing still pictures, reducing shutter-induced blur.
Like other NXCAM camcorders, the NEX-EA50EH uses Sony E-mount and comes with the newly developed Power Zoom E-mount lens E PZ 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS SELP18200. The lens features auto focus, continuous variable iris and Optical Steady Shot image stabilisation with Active Mode. The versatile NEX-EA50EH has a unique design featuring an extendable shoulder pad. You can extend the pad to balance the camcorder on the shoulder for stability for longer shooting times, or you can return the shoulder pad to original position to make the camcorder compact enough for handheld shooting.
The camcorder, as a professional NXCAM, gets 2-channel XLR audio, Linear PCM audio, time code, user bit and built-in GPS, and comes with ECM-XM1 Shotgun microphone. It records to SD/SDHC/SDXC, Memory Stick (including the new Mirroring Memory Stick) and external SSD unit.
Sony will release the NXCAM NEX-EA50EH in October.
