Acer launches a new business laptop in the US intended for today’s mobile professionals. Powered by Intel’s 3rd gen Core i5 Ivy Bridge processors, the P243 gets 4GB of RAM (max 8GB), integrated graphics and up to 500GB hard drive. The 14-inch Acer ComfyView LCD LED backlit display has 1366×768 resolution.
As a business notebook, the new TravelMate comes with enhanced security. It features Acer ProShield Security with BioProtection Fingerprint solution for pre-boot authentication, protecting the notebook from unauthorized access from the BIOS level. There are also Personal Secure Drive (PSD) to seamlessly store and encrypt all critical files, and ile Shredder utility. that delete files and folders permanently. The Acer Office Manager (AOM) manageability solution allows small businesses to deploy security policies, monitor IT assets, and schedule maintenance tasks in one simple application.
The TravelMate P243 supports Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and packs HDMI output, 5-in-1 card reader, webcam, DVD Burner, and WiDi (Wireless Display) support. The Ivy Bridge model TMP243-M-6619 starts at $699 and Acer will release the TMP243-M-6416 with Core i3-2370 for $599.99.
