Asus expands its Superior Mobility Ultrabook line with the new S-series that managed to pack an optical drive in a 21mm form factor. The sleek S-series is available in 14-inch S46 and 15.6-inch S56 models. They are powered by Intel’s Ivy Bridge 3rd gen Core procesor up to Core i7-3517U processor, up to 8GB of RAM and integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 or optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 635M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM. The Ultrabooks boasts a one-piece molded top casing and a stylish grey-colored hariline finish on the cover.
The S-series Ultrabooks can be equipped with up to 1TB of hard drive and 24GB SSD cache drive and a DVD SuperMulti burner. There is also a SD card reader. The 14-inch S46 and 15.6-inch S56 both get a 1366×767 LED-backlit display and is equipped with built-in speakers with Asus SonicMaster Lite audio enhancement to deliver better sound performance. With the Super Hybrid Engine II, Asus’ new Ultrabook features a super quick 2-second instant on resume and up to 13 days of standby time.
Other features include Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, HDMI and VGA outputs, a USB 3.0 port, built-in microphone and a HD webcam. You can also find chiclet keyboard and a large touchpad with Smart Gesture technology that supports two-finger zooming, rotating, and scrolling, as well as three-finger swiping.
