Panasonic updates its LUMIX LX line with the new LUMIX DMC-LX7, which is the successor to the LX5. According to Panasonic, the LX7 featurs a fully re-designed lens, image sensor and image processing engine. It comes equipped with a new 24mm ultra-wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMILUX lens with 3.8x optical zoom and F1.4-2.3/ The lens unit consists of 11 elements in 10 groups with five aspherical lenses with nine aspherical surfaces, including the dual-sided aspherical surface ED (Extra-low Dispersion) len. Its F1.4 is about 4 times brighter than a F2.8 lens.
The LUMIX LX7 sports the new 1/1.7-inch 10.1-megapixel MOS image sensor with an improved S/N ratio and Venus Engine image processor, which combined to deliver high clarity, color-rich images. The camera features Intelligent NR (Noise Reduction) system that quickly detects brightness in each portion of a picture and applies optimal noise reduction in multiple steps. It is capable of high-speed consecutive shooting at 11 fps in full resolution, and 5fps with continuous AF. Other than POWER O.I.S., AF Tracking, Intelligent D-range Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, Face Recognition, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent HDR (High Dynamic Range), Intelligent Handheld Night Shot and Motion Deblur provides by iA mode, the LX7 also includes iA Plus mode that allows users to adjust defocusing area in the background, exposure compensation and white balance for more flexible control.
The new LUMIX includes the Creative Control mode with 16 filter options such as Dynamic Monochrome, Expressive, Retro, Radial Defocus and Smooth Defocus for users to personalize their photos. You can also find HDR mode, Panoroma mode, 3D Photo mode, full manual control and Time Lapse Shot function that allows users to capture a record of stationary observation for objects.
Pansonic’s LX7 supports Full HD 1920×1080/60p video recording in AVCHD Progressive (MPEG-4 / H.264) format, and there is a dedicated video record button. Its stereo microphone records high-quality sound, thanks to a zoom nouse reduction system and Auto Wind Cut function, and Dolby Digital Stereo Creator.
The Panasonic LUMIX LX7 will be available in black and white.
