G-Technology updates its G-Drive line and G-RAID line external storage devices, adding USB 3.0 connectivity. Both Mobile family and Desktop family receive the update to deliver faster data transfer speeds.
The G-DRIVE slim, mobile, mobile USB 3.0, and mini portable drives all have USB 3.0 interface. The $109.99 G-Drive Slim has a lightweight aluminum case and comes in 500GB capacity.
The G-Drive mobile and mobile USB 3.0 both come in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB capacities. While the former has USB 3.0 FireWire 800 and FireWire 400 interfaces, the latter only has USB 3.0 connection. The 1TB G-Drive mobile and mobile USB 3.0 are priced at $189.99 and $159.99, respectively.
The G-Drive mini uses 2.5-inch 7200RPM hard drives, and has USB 3.0 and FireWire connectors. It is equipped with built-in heat sink for dissipate heat silently. 500GB model is priced at $159.99 and you can add $10 to get 750GB model.
The G-RAID mini packs two 7200RPM hard drives and is setup in RAID 0 for enhanced performance. You may also switch to RAID 0 for data protection using the included software utility. The G-RAID mini has USB 3.0 and FireWire interface. It will be available in 1.5TB ($359.99) and 1TB ($259.99).
The G-Drive, based on 7200RPM hard drive, comes with capacities up to 4TB and includes USB 3.0 and FireWire 400/800 interfaces. The 4TB model is priced at $359.99.
The G-RAID utilizes two 3.5-inch 7200RPM hard drive in RAID 0 setup offering up to 8TB capacityy. There are USB 3.0 and FireWire 400/800 interface. Ideal for professional content creators, it can handle simultaneous playback of multiple layers of HDV, DVCPRO HD, XDCAM HD and ProRes 422 HQ with video editing applications such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere. The storage device has a thermo-regulated “smart” fan and a soft-touch on/off button. The price is $809.99 for 8TB model.
