Samsung has introduced two new comptuer systems featuring Google’s Chrome OS – the Series 5 Chromebook 550 notebook and the Series 3 Chromebox mini PC. Both of them have sleek design. The Series 5 is in fact the second generation Series 5 Chromebook, joining the first gen Chromebook 500 while the Series 3 is the world’s first Chromebox with a compact form factor.
The Series 5 Chromebook 550 is powered by Intel’s Celeron 867 dual core processor with 4GB of RAM and integrated Intel HD3000 graphics. It sports 16GB SSD for storage and a 4-in-1 card reader. The laptop has a 12.1-inch 1280×800 display and DisplayPort output that supports up to 2560×1600 resolution. You can also find USB 2.0 ports and a 1 Megapixel HD webcam. There are WiFi-only XE550C22-A01 model and WiFi+3G model XE550C22-H01.
Like the Chromebook, the Chromebox (model XE300M22-A01) gets 4GB RAM, 16GB SSD and integrated HD3000 graphics. It uses Celeron B840 dual-core 1.9GHz processor instead. The mini PC provides two DisplayPorts for connecting up to two 30-inch displays, offering up to 2560×1600 resolution. There are six USB 2.0 ports and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity as well.
The Series 5 Chromebook 550 WiFi is priced at $449.99 and the WiFi+3G model costs $549.99. The Series 3 Chromebox is priced at $329.99.
